DLC = Diamond-like Coating. A carbon based material that displays some of the typical properties of diamond. Usually this is coated onto any item that may benefit from these properties. Materials coated in DLC coatings have qualities of hardness, wear resistance and slickness (i.e. less friction), so it makes sense that companies are producing DLC coated blades.

Titanium Nitride is a gold coloured coating of hard, ceramic material which hardens and protects cutting and sliding surfaces.
